5 Most Common At-Home Skincare Mistakes

Home care is the foundation of healthy and balanced skin. Even the best salon treatments will not bring the desired results if there are gaps in your daily routine. We often unknowingly harm our skin by making mistakes in our morning or evening skincare. Here are the 5 most common mistakes:

1. Incomplete skin cleansing

Using overly aggressive products or skipping a two-step facial cleanse leads to clogged pores, blackheads, excessive dryness, dehydration, or irritation. Let's remember that proper cleansing is the foundation of healthy skin. Instead of using drying foams or soaps, choose a gentle facial cleansing balm that will effectively remove impurities without disturbing the skin's hydrolipid barrier. I recommend my clients use Cerabalm cleansing balm. It is ideal for all skin types, effectively dissolving makeup, sebum, and all impurities. Well-cleansed skin will better absorb serums, creams, and other skincare products. It is very important to perform a gentle massage when cleansing the skin, which supports lymphatic drainage and stimulates microcirculation.

2. Using too many products

In pursuit of beautiful skin, it's easy to fall into the trap of applying many products with different active ingredients. Mixing too many products can lead to dryness, irritation, or even breakouts, which is why minimalism and consistency in skincare are important. It's worth focusing on ingredients that address your skin's needs. Prioritize regularity and introduce new ingredients gradually.

3. Incorrect application of cosmetics

A properly chosen cosmetic is extremely important, but the method of applying the product is equally crucial. Some products, to work correctly, must be properly massaged into the skin or patted in, which allows active ingredients to absorb better and act more effectively. It is important to always remember lifting movements at each stage of our skincare routine. Products should be gently patted or massaged in. Remember not to apply too many products, as an excess can burden the skin, leading to clogged pores or breakouts.

4. Over-exfoliation

Exfoliation is one of the key steps in home care, helping to remove dead skin cells, smooth the skin, and allow for better absorption of active ingredients. However, remember not to exfoliate too often or too aggressively, as this can weaken the hydrolipid barrier. Over-exfoliating can lead to increased sebum production, causing the skin to become oily and develop imperfections. Aggressive removal of dead skin cells can also result in irritation, redness, and increased sun sensitivity. Use an effective but gentle Exfoligold peel, which will support cell renewal and gently exfoliate, while also moisturizing and restoring skin radiance without disturbing the hydrolipid barrier. Also, don't skip daily exfoliation. Here, D22 Tonic will help. This gentle toner based on acids and birch water brightens the skin day after day, unclogs pores, and smooths it simultaneously.

5. Neglecting neck and décolletage care

Treat the skin on your neck and décolletage in the same way you treat your facial skin. Starting with cleansing, toning, cream, serum, or masks, all the way to sun protection. Don't wait for the first signs of aging to appear. Lack of care for this rather sensitive area can quickly lead to wrinkles and loss of firmness. If you use moisturizing products that smooth and firm for your daily skincare, you can safely use these cosmetics on your neck and décolletage as well.

Avoiding these mistakes will result in healthy, radiant skin. Remember to consciously choose products. Above all, ensure thorough cleansing, moderation in cosmetic use, and proper technique. Our daily routine and making appropriate choices will have the greatest impact on the appearance and health of our skin.
