Do you really need eye cream? A detailed analysis of one of the most controversial skincare products

Let's look at the benefits, key pros and cons, application methods, and situations when you might skip eye cream.

Is Eye Cream Really Necessary?

It's one of the most frequently discussed topics in skincare: is eye cream truly necessary? Theoretically, most moisturizers can be used around the eyes, but eye creams often contain ingredients and offer benefits that standard face creams lack. It all depends on your needs. There are anti-wrinkle creams, creams for dark circles, for sensitive skin, firming creams, for fine lines, or multi-functional formulas that do it all at once.

Does Eye Cream Really Work?

When Danuta Mieloch, founder of the Danucera brand, created Iconic Eye cream, the first and only eye cream in her line, she focused on the best luxury and professional product formulas. She analyzed ingredients effective in reducing wrinkles, skin laxity, puffiness, pigmentation, and aging around the eyes.

"I looked at eye elixirs, serums, and creams and found many great ingredients, but I wanted to create something more – especially for puffiness – and something more accessible," says Mieloch. "Then I considered all my clients' needs to create a product that truly addresses each of these problems and works well under makeup. That's how Iconic Eye was born."

We can't speak for all eye creams, but in a four-week study conducted on women aged 25 to 60, 91% of participants noticed a reduction in the visibility of dark circles, and 100% reported greater radiance, firmness, and elasticity of the skin. For us, this is proof that eye cream can truly work. "I am a huge advocate of eye creams," says Danuta. "I've been using them myself since I was 16!"

Does Eye Cream Help with Wrinkles and Dark Circles?

Iconic Eye contains:

  • Vitamin K from broccoli seed oil, which targets dark circles,
  • Skin-firming peptides,
  • Caffeine for puffiness,
  • Bakuchiol, which smooths wrinkles,
  • Centella Asiatica, which soothes irritation,
  • and many other ingredients.

The product is fragrance-free, safe to use on eyelids, and works perfectly under makeup. It is highly concentrated and active – you can feel its effect on the skin around the eyes during use.

What to Apply First: Serum or Eye Cream? What about Moisturizer?

We recommend applying eye cream after serum, but before moisturizer.

How to Apply Eye Cream?

Squeeze a pea-sized amount from the tube.

Gently massage the eye cream in slow, circular motions around the entire eye area until the product is absorbed. Use morning and evening.

It's never too early or too late to start using eye cream.

Can Eye Cream Be Applied to Eyelids?

Iconic Eye is suitable even for sensitive skin and can be used on the entire eye area, including eyelids.

Is It Worth Adding Eye Cream to Your Skincare Routine?

While no one wants to complicate their skincare with unnecessary steps, Iconic Eye was developed to provide maximum benefits to the entire eye area, so the extra effort is worthwhile.

For us, eye cream is an important and indispensable part of any skincare routine.
