How do you use cleansing balm? Our controversial opinion on skin cleansing
You've had a long day. You're exhausted. You know you should wash your face, remove your makeup, sunscreen, and all the impurities that have accumulated throughout the day. But do you skip this step, do it quickly, or do you really take a few minutes to thoroughly cleanse your skin?
We perfectly understand this – such situations happen to all of us. We've also tried all these options ourselves. However, taking the time to thoroughly cleanse your skin is a crucial first step to healthy skin, says Danuta Mieloch, founder of the Danucera brand. "One of the main reasons my clients don't have their skin in the best possible condition is that 95% of them don't cleanse it correctly or effectively." Read on to find out why it's so important, what cleansing balm to choose, and how much time to dedicate to it.
What does an oil or cleansing balm do?
When you apply an oil or multi-purpose cleansing balm to dry skin, it effectively attracts dirt and impurities without disturbing or drying out the skin's protective barrier. It is ideal to use a cleansing balm, such as Danucera Cerabalm, on dry skin to remove makeup and impurities.
What is the difference between a cleansing oil and a cleansing balm?
Both products have an oil base, but a cleansing oil is usually in liquid form, while a cleansing balm is more solid. They work in a similar way, so the choice depends on your preference.
Danucera's Cerabalm facial balm was created as a versatile cleansing balm that can be used for the first and second stages of cleansing, as a nourishing mask, and a illuminating balm.
What is double cleansing?
Double cleansing is a face washing method that effectively removes all impurities without disturbing the skin's protective barrier.
The first stage of cleansing removes surface impurities. Apply a pea-sized amount of Danucera Cerabalm to a cotton pad, then gently massage the skin to remove makeup and impurities.
The second stage of cleansing involves a deeper cleansing of the skin. Apply another portion of the balm to dry skin and gently massage in upward motions for 2–3 minutes. Gradually add a few drops of water to emulsify the balm. Finally, use a warm cloth and rinse your face with at least eight portions of cool water.
Can you double cleanse every day?
Yes, two-step cleansing is safe for daily use, but there's no need to do it in the morning. It's in the evening that it's worth taking the time to remove all the impurities accumulated during the day. "In the evening, you must double cleanse your skin," says Mieloch. "We apply sunscreen, makeup – all of this needs to be thoroughly removed, and that requires a moment of attention."
Most sunscreens are waterproof and adhere strongly to the skin, which is why it's so important to spend a few extra seconds on cleansing.
How else can Cerabalm be used?
In addition to its cleansing role, Cerabalm can be used as a face mask – a mini "treatment in a jar." Apply a thick layer to clean skin, gently massaging upwards for 2–5 minutes. You can leave it on longer. When finished, rinse with cool water.
After completing your skincare routine or makeup, you can apply a touch of Cerabalm for extra hydration and a healthy glow.
